Kathmandu, May 21 (Inditop) On a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the first Indian expedition to Mt Everest, 11 Indian climbers from two different teams climbed the world’s highest peak.

The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi, that has been nurturing climbers for 44 years, put 10 climbers, including a 24-year-old woman, on the 8848-metre peak early Thursday morning.

Within an hour of the feat, a 19-year-old from Maharashtra, Krushnaa Patil, also reached the top as part of the Eco Everest Expedition 2009, the expedition that made history this year with its team leader, Everest legend Apa Sherpa, reaching the summit for an incredible 19th time.
