Punjab police get ultra-modern vehicle

Chandigarh, July 1 (Inditop.com) Policemen in Punjab now have a highly sophisticated vehicle, which has an adjustable bullet-proof picket, two light machine guns and other modern devices for destroying the positions of terrorists and insurgents.

“This is a low carrier vehicle that is designed by the special wing of Punjab police. There is a hydraulically raised bullet-proof chamber with two machine guns rising up to 16 to 20 feet above the ground level for deterrence and domination in terrorist-affected areas,” a senior official of Punjab police said here Wednesday.

“This vehicle can be used successfully against the terrorist activities in the most difficult conditions,” he pointed out.

This security vehicle has been created following exhaustive research work by scientists of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) of Punjab, technical staff of Punjab police and various other research institutions.

The Punjab police had launched a unique operational facility in the form of a ’special wing’ in 1990 with the help of FSL and till date they have designed many refined security vehicles and equipment.

Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal said: “Such fully equipped extraordinary vehicles would certainly help us curb the emerging challenges from anti-social elements. We hope that the special wing of Punjab police would continue its good work and contribute more towards modernising the police force.”
