Kolkata, Dec 23 (Inditop.com) On a day when most of the top-ranked players made it through to the second round, top seed Abhinav Lohan was knocked out by Rahul Bajaj at the LG Goodricke Eastern India Amateur at the par-72 Royal Calcutta Golf Club Wednesday.
Bajaj, third on the LG Order of Merit list, only just made it into the main field in 32nd place and prevailed over Lohan in a tightly fought contest.
Most of the other big names on Tour sailed through to the second round, including Rashid Khan, who won his tie against Aditya Bhandarkar 5&4, and Gagan Verma, who defeated Varoon Parmar 6&5.
Karan Vasudeva won 5&3 against Sahil Kulkarni while Abhijit Chadha scored a comprehensive win over HS Kang to set up a second round face-off against Rashid.
In a surprise result, local lad Samaresh Sardar triumphed over Ambala’s Manav Das 1-Up.
