New York, Oct 22 (Inditop) Pop star Britney Spears’ trial for driving without a licence has been scrapped, after the jury failed to reach a unanimous decision.
Imdb.com reports that after more than two days of deliberating, jurors at a court in Van Nuys, California returned Tuesday to reveal they were deadlocked, with two members voting guilty, and 10 not guilty – forcing the judge to declare a mistrial.
Prosecutors now have to decide whether to ask for a retrial.
After declaring the mistrial, Judge James Steele dismissed a criminal charge against the troubled pop star, who is working on her comeback.
Spears was on trial for driving without a valid California licence.
Earlier this month the singer rejected a plea deal that would have saved the case from going to trial because it would have left her with a criminal record.
