Posted by Bhubaneswar, Feb 9 (Inditop.com) Elvis Presley did it. But when a jailor decided to rock the jailhouse by taking it a step further by organising a dance by a semi-clad woman on Republic Day in an Orissa prison, he was suspended.
Nirakar Mohanty was suspended Tuesday after a local private television channel showed footage of a function inside the jail where a semi-clad woman was seen dancing and a prisoner smoking a cigarette.
This programme was organised in the sub-jail at Salepur in Cuttack district, some 60 km from here, as a part of official Republic Day celebration, the “News Fuse” programme of the OTV channel claimed Tuesday.
The footage also showed dozens of inmates witnessing the show.
“The jailor has been placed under suspension for allowing smoking and for organising a vulgar dance in the jail,” state Inspector General of Police (prison) V. Thiagarajan told Inditop.
Mohanty said the programme was organised to entertain the inmates and the intention was not bad as it was portrayed by the channel.
