New Delhi, July 5 (Inditop.com) The latest edition of the Microfinance India Summit will be held in Delhi Oct 26-28, and will focus on providing financial services to low-income groups, the organisers of the event have said.
The event, sixth in a series of annual summits organised by ACCESS Development Services, will draw diverse perspectives of the future of microcredit in India.
ACCESS is a microfinance and livelihood solutions provider.
“Over the years, the Microfinance India Summit has emerged to become among the most important sectoral platforms globally, bringing together thought leaders to delve into and debate key current issues in the sector,” the organisers said in a statement.
This year, it’s “Doing Good and Doing Well: The need for balance”.
ACCESS said the “Microfinance India-State of the Sector Report 2009″ will also be released at the event. The report, according to the organisers, is “the most credible document for the sector in India”.
The third day of the summit will discuss issues related to the “sustainable livelihood of the poor”.
Stakeholders will share experiences and build a consensus around possible future strategies that will deliver composite and durable solutions, the statement said.
According to ACCESS, the cumulative number of groups linked to the banking system increased to 3.47 million in 2008 and the estimated number of households covered rose to 45.1 million.
Microfinance institutions recorded an increase of almost four million clients during the year.
